It's a sudden downpour, and the roof's got a leak,
There's ants on the kitchen floor, and I think I'm gonna' freak,
I'll be right back, babe, soon as I'm done,
I just gotta' fix it, babe, just this once.
Once upon a time I was wanderin' round,
wanderin' round from town to town,
I was a man with a plan, Oh man I had a plan,
Yeah and once upon a time a little while later,
She came along and something made her
promise me the world, that's right, I said the world.
I was lyin' there awake, just thinkin' 'bout tomorrow,
"Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep now",
It was time, time for a change, yeah, yeah,
You get what you ask for, and that's how it begins,
Day comes to night's door, and night lets him in,
But the moon has her own way, same as the sun,
Gonna' try it your way, just this once.
Now I'm lyin' here awake, just thinkin' 'bout tomorrow,
"Let it be, let it be, let it be, now",
And I will, if I have my way, yeah, yeah,
We still got that leak, babe, and my oh my, I still got you,
See I heard you speak, babe, and some words made it through,
You said "Take what tomorrow brings, just as it comes,
Don't you do anything, just this once."
Don't you do anything, just this once.
Don't you do anything, just this once.

If I could draw the sharp and crooked lines of trails that I have
followed,
You might just think to chase a western sky can only lead to sorrow,
I towed the line for twelve wicked years,
Slave to the factory is not the life for me.
We started on this trip across the land in northern Massachusetts,
We've come eleven weeks and here we stand: our sixteen man communion,
Some are just children, some are alone, some bring a family,
And we have all escaped from a world
Where you don't have room to breathe,
And we're bound for Indiana.
Ah, another sunrise, hey look at my hopes rise,
I wonder what's ahead across the mountains,
Though these nights are getting longer, our union's getting stronger,
See we know of Indiana, and it's somewhere out ahead,
They say the land is open to the sky, the soil as rich as Eden,
The people have a simple grace inside, and ah that voice of reason,
Tell anyone who's dying inside, Tell everyone you see
That if they want escape from a world
where they don't have room to breathe,
They might try Indiana.
The heart loves Indiana.

He'll tell you a story like no one can
In this one he's making like an old bluesman
It's Brother Blue, Brother Blue,
You can hang on every word that he's saying,
They're ringin' true, ringin' true,
They just rise up from his lips like he's praying.
How he does it I don't know, must be angel biz,
Just when I'm hittin' bottom, well there he is,
It's Brother Blue, Brother Blue,
He can pick a sagging face out of a crowd,
Always knows what to do,
Walkin' Cambridge like he's walkin' on a cloud,
Once upon a times, and Happy ever afters,
Are more than just lines, or words of the masters,
I'm singing this song, I give you these words,
Thanks to this old guitar and the day I first heard Brother Blue.
As long as you're needed, it's not too late,
If someone is feelin' a heavy weight,
For Brother Blue, Brother Blue,
Set 'em down just for a little while,
Sun and moon, Sun and moon,
Wrap 'em in a story and a smile,
A story and a smile,
A story and a smile.

I'm gonna tell you 'bout a girl named Mary, tied to her computer
screen,
She worrks at home but she chats sometimes for hours,
Over next door there's a neighbor named Tommy that she's hardly ever
seen,
See neither one of 'em stop and smell the flowers,
Tommy came a-knockin' the night the lights went out on 'em suddenly,
He said "pardon me Mary but I thought you might need a candle."
She asked him inside and she lit up the candle and set it out on the table
there,
And there they sat in a light they will always remember,
Talkin' about their last few loves and families, schools, and county
fairs,
They went 'till the candle finally surrendered,
That was how it started the night the lights went out, as the saying
goes,
You gotta' knock on the door if you ever wanna' get an answer.
So come on now, we don't need no light of day,
Everybody knows the way, heart to heart and face to face,
When the lights went out they were surfin' on the net,
Then the lights went out, that they never will forget.
"Doesn't time pass just a little too fast?" she says from her computer
screen,
Mary says "Tommy you're as bad as I am."
There in the very same room Tommy's got one too, it's virtual reality,
He smiles and tells her, "God only knows I'm tryin",
Mary says to Tommy,"Hey, you know what would be heavenly?
Let's turn out the lights and remember how we started."
So come on now, we don't need no light of day,
Yeah I know you know the way, heart to heart and face to face,
When the lights went out they were surfin' on the net,
Then the lights went out, that they never will forget.
When the lights went out all the TV screens went dead,
When the lights went out there were people there instead.
So lights out, lights out, lights out, lights out.

She's tough, cold, and pretty, this girl of the city,
She hides what she knows, & when she don't you can't tell,
She left home at twenty, left behind plenty,
She left trails of lightning and thunder and rain,
"I know it's time to go", she said,
"I'll never call this home again",
"It's fine for the others, they're stuck in this town",
"I'm leaving here tonight", she said,
"I know that this is right", she said,
And that's always the story: "a heart's heading home".
You can't miss the schemers in a city of dreamers,
They'll take what you got, and they'll leave you the pain,
She gave out no warning, she called home this morning,
She's coming home on the midnight train,
"I know it's time to go", she said,
"I'll never call this home again",
"It's fine for the others, they're stuck in this town",
She's leaving here tonight, she says,
She doesn''t know what lies ahead,
In a world filled with stories of hearts heading home.
(she feels just like a runaway but her heart is heading home, home
home)

I didn't know where to look for you last night,
I didn't know where to find you,
I didn't know hI could touch that light,
That's always gathering behind you,
I didn't know that I would find a way,
To Find you in the morning,
But love can pull you out of yesterday,
As it takes you without warning,
I wanna' be a longtime friend to you,
I wanna be a long time known,
Not one of those memories, used-to be's,
A summer's-fading song.
It's from me, it's to you, for your eyes,
It's a weight, a wonder that is wise,
I am here, you are there,
Love is our cross to bear,
Love is our cross to bear,
I know I'll think of us up on that hill,
With the golden moon arising,
And the stars will fall around us still,
While the love is realizing,
And so it is until we meet again,
And I throw my arms around you,
You can count the grey hairs in my head,
I'll still be thankful that I found you,
It's from me, it's to you, for your eyes,
It's a weight, a wonder that is wise,
I am here, you are there,
Love is our cross to bear,
Love is our cross to bear,
Love is our cross to bear.

Rest stop, five a.m., I'm waking from another sleep,
A breeze is on the way, So say the autumn leaves,
I feel the breeze, A fine New England town,
Young girl in a car, She's sinking in a pillow haze,
Needle in her arm, And this is all that I can take,
I lie awake, A fine New England town,
It's a vandal on a Picasso,
It's a needle breaking the skin,
But real life ain't a Picasso,
And I gotta' stop tryin' to make it so.
Rest stop, eight a.m., I was gonna' see the autumn leaves,
Time is standing still, I guess I'm standing watch,
While a young girl sleeps, in my New England town,
It's a vandal on a Picasso,
It's a needle breaking the skin,
But real life ain't a Picasso,
And I gotta' stop tryin' to make it so,
I think I'll do something differently today,
I need to do something differently today, today.
You can come along if you want to.
Rest stop, ten a.m..

You swept me off my feet, I'm not grounded,
Heart pounded, dumbfounded,
It wasn't half as good as it sounded,

You got that look that should not be trusted,
Thin crusted, disgusted,
I had it good but now I'm flat busted,
I fell with you.
Why, why, why are the fun ones useless?
They always leave you up a tree,
Shame, shame, shame on sick little cupid,
While we're at it shame, shame, shame on me.
I fell in love and mucked up with a vengeance,
Transcendent dependence,
Another day and we'd be codefendents,
I fell with you.
Why, why, why are the fun ones useless?
They always leave you up a tree,
Shame, shame, shame on sick little cupid,
While we're at it shame, shame, shame on me.

There's a moon watching over me,
A nightlight you left on,
Like a child I feel tucked away,
There's a bird that knows my song,
Why is the night so friendly now?
Winter's come and gone,
I'm ready for the nighttime now,
Lets wake up the crickets and share the moon.
Do you hear thunder? Surprise.
Making you wander the holes in the sky.
Hold me like a blanket,
Dangerously warm,
Wear me like a sweater,
How easily these thoughts come rushing on,
In the Spring.
Watching the shadows just miss your eyes,
Ah yes, and I hear thunder. Surprise.
There's a moon watching over me,
A nightlight you left on,
I'm ready for the nighttime now,
Lets wake up the crickets and share the moon.

Did you ever wake up in the morning,
And put your head under the pillow like you're hiding?
But ready or not that sun just keeps on shining,
You are probably wondrin' how to make it go away.
Isn't it the same way did you notice,
When love shows its face on your horizon?
You get that feeling no one's driving, no no
It keeps on going faster, You could make it stop
But the rain is on the ground, mother wine, water holy,
Water's pourin' down, broken glass healing slowly,
Blue rain, naked soul, one love comes down in blue rain.
It could be another sleepwalk morning,
You hit the snooze and wait another hour,
Get up and feel that blue blue shower,
That makes a body wonder why so many
Still might choose to sleep their time away....
If you're ready or not there's a blue rain falling,
So build a shelter on your soul.
So keep it dry, it's not just time you're wasting,
You're standing in the doorway making up your mind...
But the rain is on the ground, mother wine, water holy,
Water's pourin' down, broken glass healing slowly,
Blue rain, naked soul, one love comes down in blue rain.
One love comes down in blue rain,
One love comes down in blue rain.

Emily, you came to me, seemingly a portrait of honesty,
You took me with your eyes, took me by surprise,
All I knew, someone like you, would never weave those lies,
Oh Emily, tried to steal the moment, but stole my heart instead,
And it seemed to be a crime, to want you, Emily.
Now I see what came to me, Scene one was the beginning,
Scene two would never be, I thought that I might start a legacy,
I was right for just one night, I guess that's where the story leads,
Oh Emily, tried to steal the moment, but stole my heart instead,
And it seemed to be a crime,
Now I wonder, Emily, if you see
How easy it'd be to bring you back,
If I turn and walk a way, there you'd be
Hangin' around behind my back,
But that's not love to me,
But it's the perfect crime for Emily,
Oh Emily, tried to steal the moment, but stole my heart instead,
And it seemed to be a crime, by the laws of Emily.

Last Man Standing

To whom it may concern, I'm the last one,
The other soldiers are not standing anymore,
I wasn't strong as a lad, and not the best that we had,
But I guess you never know what lies in store,
It's been a long, long war.
We used to say that we would always be united,
We couldn't fake it once the changes had begun,
From the ones who got married, to the first that we buried,
It wasn't long before the union came undone,
And then there was one.
I'm the last man standing, I don't dare to look around,
Am I the sole survivor, or the last to settle down,
Ah, lead on to the answer, if you will,
Am I the last man standing, or am I standing still?
Feels wrong, feels right,
Feels like I've been waiting forever,
Why do I carry on this way?
We always said, "whatever gets you through the night",
But something isn't right.
"Dear friend", that's how you started your last letter,
"I don't think I can make it anymore,
There's an absence of reason, the winters are freezin',
And I can't remember what we're fighting for,
That's the end of the war.
You're the last man standing",
I don't dare to look around,
Am I the sole survivor, or the last to settle down?
Ahh, lead on to the answer, I wonder if you will,
Am I the last man standing?
Am I still standing, or am I standing still?
I'm the last man standing.

(*Lyrics by Jeff Cannon, Music by Doug Cannon)
I would always be with her if I could,
I have seen her sometimes bad and sometimes good,
I can't always say why, but Hope is mine, Hope is mine.
There are times when I don't practice what I preach,
There will always be things just beyond my reach,
When every sound says "good-bye",
Just in time, Hope Divine.
She can burst on the scene, from the space in between,
All it takes is a sign, the hopeful kind, Hope Divine.
She might hold you tonight, she might turn out the lights,
That's where her love really shines, She'll change your mind, Hope
Divine.
Next time you see her, you might tell her you were wrong,
For all the times you let her walk away,
When was the last time you were sure that she was gone?
Next time you'll be begging her to stay.
She can burst on the scene, from the space in between,
All it takes is a sign, the hopeful kind, Hope Divine.
If I have lost her before, I can break down the door,
She is waiting inside, Hope Divine, Hope Divine,
She'll change your mind, Hope Divine.

(*used by permission, written by Lennon-McCartney)
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
they slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe.
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy, are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru deva, Om,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world.
Images of broken light, which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox,
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe,
Jai guru deva, Om,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter, shades of love are ringing
Through my opened ears, inciting and inviting me,
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns,
It calls me on and on across the universe,
Jai guru deva, Om,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world,
Nothing's Gonna change my world.
Passing Rains (Jeff Cannon)
Everybody feels the hands of maya,
Everything is bound for change,
Try to let the music lift you higher,
Come what may from the passing rains.

Last night the target was your heart,
I watched a dagger cutting through,
And I was you just then,
I saw you make a fist,
Beginning the end,
Fist, held up to the sky,
Nothing bad is getting through,
And nothing is coming in,
With anger in your home,
What can you win?
One two three four,
Make a fist and you go to war.
Friends and all your best-laid plans,
I watched you make them one by one,
And chase them all away,
Pretending it's a plan,
What is your game?
One two three four,
Make a fist and you go to war,
You're fighting, you think that's the way,
"It's just one more day",
You say that so well.
Last night the target was your heart,
I watched a dagger cutting through,
And I was you just then,
I saw you make a fist,
Beginning the end,
One two three four,
Make a fist and you go to war,
One two three four,
If you make a fist it don't matter
What you're fighting for.
"Its what I am, it's in the plan",
that's what you say now,
That's not what you are,
you're throwing stones.
One two three four,
If you make a fist it don't matter
What you're fighting for.

I swam the raging waters, but not this time,
No matter what the sign says,
I burned the marching orders, one and all,
And watched a city fall,
Now the next time I'll be on my side,
And on that lazy river ride,
To mine own self I'll be, I'll be true.
I smashed the family compass, It's just as well,
It took me straight to hell and back,
I made myself a promise, if I lost that game,
I'd proudly take the blame,
With my new shirt on, my new shirt on,
I'm taking a chance that the waters are gone,
But if they break on through I'll be true.
Liek a rosebush losing petals in the rain,
I sit and wait until it's done,
I suppose that second nature can be trained,
So I'll start following the sun,
Yeah, yeah, I'll start following the sun.
So long to raging waters, and how 'bout you?
Do you know what to do? And are you the devils daughter,
Or are you true? And can we make it through?
With two calm hands, two solid hearts,
Where to rivers meet and then flow apart,
Where two times one is still two, I'll be true.

You took it in a quick conversation,
I tried not to let you know,
You put my heart in your pocket and then turned to go,
And part of me don't like the feeling,
The rest of me knows no fear,
And I know what's happening, I know what's happening here.
It's that love illusion again.
Heart is beating a rhythm, orchestra follows the cue,
I close my eyes, now I'm dancing a waltz with you,
It's that love illusion again.
And I didn't mean to write you a love song,
The timing is all wrong, and that's not my way,
But that look in your eyes is something to die for,
And I hope that soon I'll be able to breathe again,
it's that love illusion again.
And somewhere off in the future,
Someone loses their way,
Something went wrong but now
Nobody knows what to say,
It's that love illusion again,
And I didn't mean to write you a love song,
The timing is all wrong, and that's not my way,
But that look in your eyes is something to die for,

Seconds, maybe days, I've been waiting,
What's in the little box you've got?
Too much time at this bus stop waiting,
Life in this electric chair,
Something's coming down New Years Eve,
Doctor, the results, oh please,
Standoff in the gulf, I've been waiting,
Tweinty minutes in line, I see
Slow results in therapy, waiting,
Blind men in a firing squad,
Missed me seven times, can't they see?
What if I get left behind?
Something's gotta' change in my mind,
Taking all my energy,
Feeling patience, anger, apathy,
Wherever there's a lock, there's a key,
Waiting, waiting for me.
Here it comesm the resolution sound,
When it comes, I'll turn my life around,
What if I get left behind?
Something's gotta' change in my mind,
Taking all my energy,
Feeling patience, anger, apathy,
Wherever there's a lock, there's a key,
Waiting, waiting for me.
Hoping that the noise will stop,
Generations await a messiah,
Waiting for the bomb to drop,
Hoping that its heaven or higher,
Hangman stands without a tree,
Someone lend a hand, no not me.
What if I get left behind?
Something's gotta' change in my mind,
Taking all my energy,
Feeling patience, anger, apathy,
Wherever there's a lock, there's a key,
Waiting, waiting for me.
Waiting is waiting for me, waiting for me.

Side by side drifting away,
Time and tide marking the way,
Walking alone again,
Marching alone to the beat,
Wind blowing home again,
Homeless with no one to cheat,
Man in chains never been free,
Stuck in the pouring rain, can't find a key,
Lost again, wasn't there
Somewhere that you had to be?
How can you find your way home again
When you can't see? See?
And with the love comes the freedom for the mother,
And with the time comes the freedom for a plan,
And if you want to ever love another,
Make the change, find some freedom for the man.
One blind eye showing the way,
Caught between earth and sky, fading to grey,
Back on the road again, stopping to follow a dream,
Counting the cost again, halfway as far as it seems,
And with the love comes the freedom for the mother,
And with the time comes the freedom for a plan,
And if you want to ever love another,
Make the change, find some freedom for the man.

And hitched an anchor to my stove,
Put plastic bunnies in the front yard,
And blow-up apples in the grove,
Now we're on our rollercoaster
On a really stormy day,
Waiting for two worlds to collide,
On the last day of forever
I will turn to you and say,
"Thank you love, for such a wild ride."
Your paper airplanes at the symphony,
And singing opera on the phone.
That dear john letter that you left for me,
The way you laughed when you came home.
It's just another chink in my armor,
Just another rip at the seams,

Living in a perfect place,
No pain, no gain, must be the new age,

Picture in the New York Times and Tarzan Magazine,
Jane is crying, that's a fact,
Same old monkey on her back,
It's that man: no Tarzan, she's queen.
Clean the kitchen, clean the attic,
Clean your mind up while you're at it,
Tarzan, that's life,
Jungle fever, jungle noise,
Tarzan hangin' with the boys,
No problem, no money, no wife.(uh-oh)
Here comes Tarzan and Jane,
Living in a white house,
Living in a perfect place,
No pain, no gain, must be the new age,
Must be a new cage, the latest rage
Ahh look out down below, this thing's gonna' blow,
And Jane junps to her feet and starts the show,
She says, "Put that vine away. If I let you have your way,
you'd be swingin' all night long. I'd go insane."

Then lose that monkey,Me Tarzan, you jane."

Feel like a stranger passing through,
In every picture, everywhere there's a story,
Some tell of softer ground,

That hide a single fountain:
I am somebody's brother.
Win or lose it's all the same,
Here's to the future,
No guilt, no blame,
There is a river running through this story,
Simple words I'm writing down,
crumbs I'm leaving on the ground to find me,
Or is it just to remind me
I am somebody's brother,
And though I may rise and fall
We're the same: All walking the ways
Of somebody's brother, somebody's brother
The disappear, the walk away, it's raining fear,
And all this on a promise: someday.
I have come to lay me down,
Remembering the way the mirror shattered.
Does it even matter?
I am somebody's brother,
And though I may rise and fall
We're the same: All walking the ways
Of somebody's brother, somebody's brother.

Crystal skies, a banner flies,
It says today's the day,
Something new, lots to do, and a holiday parade.
Marching bands and waving hands,
And kites we meant to fly
But something's wrong, you don't belong
That's how your marching caught my eye,
How'd you get inside this here parade,
And I wonder, is that why you're smiling ear to ear?
Did you have to jump the barricade,
Or is this your tradition here,
And this is just another year?
You can hide in a corner,
Where you can't be seen,
Or march in the street,
There's a home in the heartland,
That no one takes away,
When you take your place,
In the Holiday Parade.
Uniforms and teenage horns destroying Beatle songs,
The mayor's car, the rising star,
Hey, what TV show is she on?
Thunder clouds, and restless crowds,
And raindrops start to fall,
Spoiled planbs and fading tans,
I wonder why I came at all,
Counting banners at the big parade,
And wondering if this was in the plan,
Wearing nothing to the masquerade,
I'm sticking to the plan,
Just another one-man-band,
You can hide in a corner,
Where you can't be seen,
Or march in the street,
There's a home in the heartland,
That no one takes away,
When you take your place,
In the Holiday Parade.
You're heading home in crystal skies,
You're heading home when your banner flies,
If you can cover this, it's all there is,
It might just be the turn of the tide,
You can hide in a corner,
Where you can't be seen,
Or march in the street,
There's a home in the heartland,
That no one takes away,
When you take your place,
In the Holiday Parade.

I'm waiting for a train that comes between two cities,
And this station hasn't seen the last of me,
And I always say, "when the rain comes down,
I'll take a ride to the greener grass on the other side."
And oh, it's a tale of two cities.
And this one here is talkin' to the sky,
"Oh God", he says, "you ain't no friend of mine",
I hear him sayin', "you must've put a spell on me,
"cuz I walk and talk so differently",
Oh, it's a tale of two cities.
I'm not gonna borrow time, gonna' steal it all away,
On my way to Neverland,
I'll ride the tomorrow line 'till I feel it slip away,
Give me one more day,
yeah this is it, my master plan.
A mother and child locked in jealousy,
She can't remember ever feelin' free,
The child is thinkin' "if I was big I'd leave tonight,
I'd hop that train and do it right",
Oh, it's a tale of two cities.
I'm not gonna borrow time, gonna' steal it all away,
On my way to Neverland,
I'll ride the tomorrow line 'till I feel it slip away,
Give me one more day,
yeah this is it, my master plan.
I'm waiting for a train that runs between two cities,
A mother and child locked in jealousy, two cities.
Two cities, two cities, "when the rain comes down,
I'll take a ride to the greener grass on the other side."
Oh, it's a tale of two cities.

I'm running out, I'm out of touch,
I'd cross the sky, but the sky knows too much,
As a rule, I need something new.
I'm breaking ground, A hide and seek,
A lost and found, One day in Rabbit Creek,
Over there, you can always find something new,
And I'll be the runaway,
While the world turns the other way,
Don't know if I can see it through,
It's just something that I know that I have to do.
I'm writing words, with words I pray,
I pray for love, I love a New Year's Day,
Ah, maybe then I'll be something new.
And I'll be the runaway,
While the world turns the other way,
Don't know if I can see it through,
It's just something that I know that I have to do.
With open arms that never stop,
Leaves start to fall,
A fall from a mountaintop,
As a rule I need something new.

All at once everything,
Standing in your shadows, I'm a king,
And I wonder, can this be?
Can you be the one?
And are you sure it's me?
"I am", she whispered.
"I am, it's true. I am, therefore I think
I'd like to know: which one are you?"
I am a river that flows to the sea,
You're takin' chances walkin' next to me.
Heart and soul I believe,
On the rise, I stop before I leave,
Thought I'd give a part of me,
But words are all I have,
And are you hearing me?
"I am", she whispered.
"I am, it's true. I am, therefore I think
I'd like to know: which one are you?"
I am a river that flows to the sea,
You're takin' chances walkin' next to me.
Was it meant to be this way,
Was I always next to you?
And is it like they say?
Are you really true?
"I am", she whispered.
"I am, it's true. I am, therefore I think
I'd like to know: which one are you?"

That's the messiah with large cup of coffee,
He just got back after all these years,
We met last friday in a bar up in Boston,
Yes he persuaded me to drive him here,
Cause he's the one who's come to set us free,
Yes he's the one, he's the one,
And is there something that you need?
I could ask for you.....
"our father who art in heaven hallowed by thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"
Can you make it just like heaven? And he said.....
Well it's a big world, baby, someone's gotta save it,
It might be riding on me, yeah, yeah,
But it's a big world, baby, yes I'd like to save you,
But I've got this power and the whole world's counting on me.
Yeah, yeah, it seems like everybody in this big world is counting on me.
I think that someday I'll write a gospel,
And I can't wait for those better days,
Each town we stop in a brand new miracle,
And then he asks them to keep the faith,
And one by one, they turn and walk away,
But he's the one, he's the one,
I thought I heard you kneel and pray,
I heard your children say.......
I don't have all the answers, just a dream to
be alive and be walkin backwards,
I could fit into your pocket, fade into the sky,
Stand up in your face and ask you why, why?
I know you wanna pretend that you don't know me,
You turn your head down and you think that you're free,
But the truth will burn itself before your eyes,
And when the light shines there'll be no way to disguise yourself in fog,
You will see and you will know, you get and opportunity to love and then you go,
Will you cower in the lonely tower shivering
or proclaim yourself the messiah and sing?
Back at the campsite I face the messiah,
I ask if i can receive the word.
My child, he says to me, my child,
It's nothing you haven't heard:
No greater love was ever felt for you,
No greater love, No greater love,
And I say hey, come get the freak,
Then kissed him on the cheek.....
Cuz it's a big world, baby, someone's gotta save it,
It might be riding on me, yeah, yeah,
But it's a big world, baby, yes I'd like to save you,
But I've got this power and the whole world's counting on me.
Yeah, yeah, it seems like everybody in this big world is counting on me.

I was born in New York City,
Six pound, seven ounce, eyes so blue,
A pretty good day in New York City,
A pretty good day for you know who,
A whole lot's changed now
It ain't real pretty,
Might come as a shock to you,
But everything in New York City
'Bout a year ago, went boom boom boom,
I got books, i got photos,
I got five big apple yo-yo's,
They're all genuine, yes sir,
you're gonna' have to take my word about it.
It's a new atlantis, sad to say,
New York City was blown away,
It's a new atlantis, goodness sakes,
A New York minute, that's all it takes.
You better rush, yeah make a beeline
I got the last few Broadway streetsigns,
I got frisbees and kazoos,
That came from the United Nations.
It's a new atlantis, sad to say,
New York City was blown away,
It's a new atlantis, goodness sakes,
A New York minute, that's all it takes.
So if you're looking for souvenirs of devastation,
These would be a big sensation,
I only tell you for your information,
You can do what you wanna' do,
I got a light, I ain't a liar,
It says "this taxi is for hire",
You can put it on your car,
And drive like there is no tomorrow.
It's a new atlantis, sad to say,
New York City was blown away,
It's a new atlantis, goodness sakes,
A New York minute, that's all it takes.

I can say the words, say the words,
That will make you follow,
I know what you wish for, I know how you see,
Water all your flowers, and pull
All the weeds up from your yard,
I can do a garden before it does me.
But I think I won't, think I won't,
Think I'll let 'em fall,
I could be the first tumbling domino,
No, I think I won't, think I'll line 'em up,
Yeah, watch 'em go, I want love today,
And what's more, I want love tomorrow.
Rich one, poor one come,
Play with me, why you work so hard?
Someday you will both lay with me,
Outside your house of cards, you can't go far,
It's a domino yard.
I could take the vow, I know how,
Take the vow of silence,
Watch you through the window,
From across the street.
Howdy neighnor, Our behavior,
That's not anybody's business,
What's say we just keep it between you and me?
But I think I won't, think I won't,
Think they gotta' know,
What if I'm the first tumbling domino?
No, I think I won't, think that number's up,
I've had enough.
If I stick around and make the sound,
Would you pass the word on?
Rich one, poor one come,
Play with me, why you work so hard?
Someday you will both lay with me,
Outside your house of cards, you can't go far,
It's a domino yard, a domino yard.
I'm serious.
Nice people, nice empires, One planet.
If someone's going down, going down,
It's a chain reaction.
Rich one, poor one come,
Play with me, why you work so hard?
Someday you will both lay with me,
Outside your house of cards, you can't go far,
It's a domino yard, a domino yard.

Ring those bells Surale, an angel earned its wings,
Angels have the hardest time with ordinary things,
They always come to rescue when it comes to someone else,
She must've saved a thousand souls before she saved herself,
Surale, Surale, Surale, mm-mm.
It's hard to leave the safety, hard to leave the pain,
To hear the cries behind you knowing something still remains,
To promise to remember that there's nothing you can do,
If the love you're giving doesn't start with loving you,
Surale, Surale, Surale, mm-mm.
On the day the wings appeared,
She stepped outside the ring of fear that held her there,
And speaking from her sacred place,
As if to guide the human race:
"I can show you where it is but I can't take you there."
I can't take you there.
I have left my cradle, and everything I've known,
But i can hear Surale's ringing as I walk alone,
And sometimes I can step in as an angel to a friend,
But every now and then i have to walk away again,
Surale, Surale, Surale, mm-mm,
Surale, Surale, Surale, mm-mm.

Waiting for my moment just before you fall,
If you wanna' love me, you gotta' take some time,

Look through any window, tell me what you see,
Shame about that couple just across the street,
Shame about my TV, talk shows running on,
Someone's blaming someone,
It's always love gone wrong,
They're sitting on the couch bearing down,
Nothing's gonna please them,
On the phone digging in,
Someone's breaking free and,
In the end chalk it up,
Everywhere you look it's always
Talkshow Love, that's not love to me,
Papa talking righteous, mama talkin saint,
I don't care who's lyin', I just know they ain't,
Talkshow love's the matchstick rarin' up to go,
Someone points their finger, Look out, there she blows,
They're sitting on the couch bearing down,
Nothing's gonna please them,
On the phone digging in,
Someone's breaking free and,
In the end chalk it up,
Everywhere you look it's always
Talkshow Love, that's not love to me,
Your love comes down to your vision,
And what your mind can see,
If all you see's the division,
A mirror's what you need,
And that's not me.
I am not a morror, hangin' on the wall,
Waiting for my moment just vefore you fall,

Fear, the slowest way to die,
You never say goodbye,
Even when they're gone, gone,
Fear, I feel like I can't move,
I always have to prove,
There's nothing on my mind,
I'm fine.
When its darkest all around me,
I'll surrender here,
I'll wash away, I'll wash away,
My fear.
I had a dream last night,
I dreamt that finally the fear was gone,
Then I woke up and realized I was hangin on.
Fear, like waiting by the phone,
It makes me be alone,
Even when you're right here,
Fear, like never letting go,
Even when you know,
Tomorrow's almost here, right here.
With this darkness all around me,
I surrender here,
I wash away, I wash away,
My fear.
You don't understand, you don't understand,
how could you understand? no one understands,
I don't understand, I don't understand my fear,
I don't understand, I don't understand my fear.

Blue Skies Black Clouds, threaten me in places I remember,
Warm hands, cold heart, standing in my way,
This is where i say, whose life am I in?
And I won't spend my days falling to my knees,
Truth surrounds the wind where lies will fill your sails,
While you're sinkin like a stone, I oughta know.
In father's word, In mother's cry, In losing truth in places where I've always lied,
In black and white blue skies are grey, I waste away.
Blue Skies Black Clouds, Takin on the sky like marching soldiers,
Feels like sundown, here I know my way.
This is where i say, whose life am I in?
And I won't spend my days falling to my knees,
Truth surrounds the wind where lies will fill your sails,
While you're sinkin like a stone, I oughta know, I oughta know.
I will not lose that kind of blue again, I dream in color and I always will,
I go inside and I go true again, Joining black clouds in the sky,
And kneeling on them, I Place flowers at their side.
This is where i say, whose life am I in?
And I won't spend my days falling to my knees,
Truth surrounds the wind where lies will fill your sails,
While you're sinkin like a stone, you're sinkin like a stone

Father time has left the family, now he's married to the mob,
He lost his patience slowly, and the he lost his job,
Over thousands of years of father time, this is all that remains,
Of your single prouydest moment, and your worst growing pains,
Do you lie awake wondering why, and where the hell is father time?
Today I saw old father time having coffee with his new gods,
There's a laptop computer and headset phone, for checkin out the latest odds,
He's got a two o'clock with the sandman, Cause he's always free for lunch,
And by five he's on the blackjack table, makin love to his latest hunch,
Look at the fear in his eyes, that man was father time.
Somebody strike a match and let it fly,
The whole joint is burning, breathe the smoke inside,
Now you've lost your innocence, bring back father time.
So I asked him for a reason, something I could understand,
he said they don't keep track of time no more, and that's why I got canned,
With so many hungry voices, who'll never have their day,
If they don't believe their choices, they'll just take the shortest way,
Step to the end of the line, I'm no longer father time.
Somebody strike a match and let it fly,
Can you leave it burning, breathe the smoke inside,
Will you lose your patience, just like father time?
Me I wanna build it slowly, and I wanna make it last,
But when I try to seize the moment, it seems the moment just went past,
Under the lights of a big casino, with a wild look in his eyes,
Stands another slave to hunger, It's hard to believe
This madman once was father time.

Looking for glory with innocent eyes,
Searching the same old circular miles,
Finding nothing, and nothing changed,
You were the owner of only one thing,
A vision of what your future would bring,
Just remember how you got your name.
Dreamwalker, getting lost in your fantasy,
Coldhearted, like there's nothing to lose,
No sinner finds a place in your memory,
Dreamwalker, It's like the vision is all you see,
It's killing me.
There's nothing as dark as the tunnel of love,
And what you can find there is never enough,
everything colored looks so gray,
You were the one with an eye for perfection,
You have to move in a certain direction,
Nobody does it just that way,
Dreamwalker, getting lost in your fantasy,
Coldhearted, like there's nothing to lose,
No sinner finds a place in your memory,
Dreamwalker, It's like the tunnel is all you see,
It's killing me.
Has anybody seen the one I used to know?
Or was it my mistake to think that it was more than just for show?
It's never good enough or strong enough to ride,
If it don't fill up that empty place inside.
So you cover your tracks like it's nobody's business,
And talk like there's no need for forgiveness,
Never a sinner, so you say,
Dreamwalker, getting lost in your fantasy,
Coldhearted, like there's nothing to lose,
No sinner finds a place in your memory,
Dreamwalker, you're like a bullet inside of me,
You're killing me, a bullet inside of me,
Still in me, A lonely vision is all you see,
It's killing me.

She laid her cards out on the table,
And laid a hundred fears to rest,
A knew at once she spoke with angels,
Don't walk away, don't walk away,
If you never put fences on your garden,
If you've never flown around your room,
If you've never walked upon your waters,
Don't walk away, don't walk away,
She told me these are the signs,
Here is your heart in the middle,
Cover your eyes.
Fresh blood runs through all the time,
Under the sign that says "wiggle". (Oh no)
If you still think black and white are different,
If you still feel tempted to deceive,
If you still believe in good and evil,
Don't walk away, don't walk away,
She told me these are the signs,
Here is your heart in the middle,
Cover your eyes.
Fresh blood runs through all the time,
Under the sign that says "wiggle". (Oh no)

I never told her 'bout the way I'd go to pieces,
Just at the mention of her name,
I can't recall them, though I know I had my reasons,
That's the part that never changed,
And since that time has gone,
I can see there were some moments,
Where my eyes gave it away,
There are words of love,
And there are words you can imagine,
That you're just not meant to say,
If you're sensible, sensible.
Don't wait so long it gets too late for conversation,
Or think you're better off alone,
Just leaves you sorry, searching your imagination,
"What might've been", "I should've known".
And now that time has gone,
I still think about those moments,
Where my eyes gave it away,
There are words of love,
And there are words you can imagine,
That you're just not meant to say,
If you're sensible, sensible.
Once I thought that time had come,
I wrote down reasons one by one,
drove all night long, stupid me,
Just to watch her from a distance,
For it's sensible that I must be.
I never told her 'bout the way I'd go to pieces,
Just at the mention of her name,
I can't recall them, though I know I had my reasons,

Broken Art

There's music on my stereo, there're pictures on my wall,
These are the images that move my generation,
Houses are boxes, no one's calling,
There's no family, skies are falling,
But today I cannot watch the celebration,
With your brush of fire, can you show me something higher,
Than the absence of a love you feel you can't restore?
When the images are drawn and pedalled by the spirit-broken,
Other hearts will fall and maybe that's exactly what they're hoping
for,
They never ask me how I feel, ask me how I feel,
There's fire in the bedroom,
There's fire on the altar,
Lets burn away the fiction: come on, ask me how I feel.
I FEEL. I love and fear broken art.
My big imagination, it covers every station,
Where the absence has become an institution,
Where's the hope, where's the voice?
Do we even have a choice?
Are they saying there can be no resolution?
And now they've asked me to believe,
This brush of fire that I see,
Casting shadows of a hopeless lonely nation,
But the canvas is ablaze with an apocalyptic vision,
It's the darkest of my fears,
It stalks and threatens my imagination.
Ask me how I feel, ask me how I feel,
I don't know how they sold me for so long,
I guess they told me like a bumpersticker choir,
That's not how I feel.
I FEEL. I love and fear broken art.
I saw the sign when I was five, "life sucks and then you die"
They never did expose the lie, they never had a reason,
I remember when I first heard, when love became a dirty word,
I hit the road the very same day and never looked back.
It could've been magic, I might've been overtired,
But it seemed like it was coming from above,
"If you can imagine, if you can start a fire,
Then you already know the face, the face of love."
See, mine is not a thoughtless or a heartless generation,
We save our broken pieces, without them there's no conversation.
Ask me how I feel, ask me how I feel,
I don't know how they sold me for so long,
I guess they told me like a bumpersticker choir,
That's not how I feel.
I FEEL. I love and fear broken art.

I will come for you at nighttime,
And I will raise you from your sleep,
I will kiss you in four places
As I go runnin' along your street,
I will squeeze the life out of you,
And you will make me laugh and make me cry,
And we may never forget it,
You will make me call your name,
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky,
And we may never meet again,
So shed your skin and lets get started,
And you will throw your arms around me.
I dreamt of you at nighttime,
I watched you in your sleep,
I met you in high places,
Touched your head and touched your feet,
Though I may disappear out of view,
Y'know I will never say goodbye,
And though I try to forget it,
You will make me call your name,
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky,
And we may never meet again,
So shed your skin and lets get started,
And you will throw your arms around me.
Yeah you will throw your arms around me.
Yeah you will throw your arms around me.
Yeah you will throw your arms around me.
